🔧 Claude Code

🔧 Cursor
1️⃣ حمّله من cursor.com

🔧 GitHub Copilot

🔧 Gemini CLI

People argue which dev tool is stronger. Pros just run both at once.
The real question was never which tool to pick. It was always how to split the work.

Every few weeks the debate restarts: Claude Code or Cursor, GitHub Copilot or Gemini CLI, which one wins. The framing is wrong. These tools were not designed to replace each other. They were designed to cover different cognitive loads. The developer who figures this out stops arguing and starts shipping.

Section 1 — What it actually is

Think of a construction project. You have a structural engineer who reasons through the full design, catches the decisions that will be expensive to reverse, and holds the entire plan in their head. Then you have the execution crew who takes that plan and turns it into walls, wiring, and floors with precision and speed. Splitting these roles does not divide the talent. It multiplies the output. AI coding tools work the same way: one tool reasons deep on hard problems, one tool executes fast across the codebase. The power was never in picking a winner. It was in understanding the division of labor.

Section 2 — How it works

The workflow has a clear shape. Once you see it, you cannot unsee it.

1️⃣ Bring your hard problem to the deep reasoning tool. Give it full context: the code, the unexpected behavior, the architectural constraints, the history that matters. Let it build a complete understanding before it responds.
2️⃣ Take the resulting plan or diagnosis to the fast execution tool. Apply multifile edits, iterate, run tests. The execution tool does not need to reason from scratch. It needs a clear direction to move on.
3️⃣ When a new complication surfaces during execution, take it back to the reasoning tool with the updated context. Do not try to guess your way through it.
4️⃣ Repeat the loop consciously. The switch between tools is a deliberate decision, not an accident.

🧠 The reasoning layer handles long context, architectural decisions, and hard bugs where the cause is not obvious.
⚙️ The execution layer handles speed, coverage, and iteration across files.
🔄 The loop between them is where real productivity lives.

Section 3 — Where you see it

🐛 Debugging a bug that does not reproduce consistently: the reasoning tool diagnoses causes and ranks likelihood, the execution tool applies the fix across every affected file.
🏗️ Making an architectural decision: one tool evaluates tradeoffs with full project context, the other implements the agreed direction cleanly.
📦 Building a new feature from a spec: Copilot handles autocomplete as you write, Claude handles the structural questions that come up mid-build.
🖥️ Scripting in a server environment: Gemini CLI works directly in the terminal without leaving the command line, useful for infrastructure and automation work.

Section 4 — 🛠️ Tools you actually use

🔧 Claude Code
Anthropic's command line tool built for deep reasoning and long context. It holds architectural decisions, understands full codebases, and reasons through problems that require connecting many pieces at once. It thinks before it responds.
How to get started:
1️⃣ Install it: npm install -g @anthropic-ai/claude-code
2️⃣ Run it inside your project folder: claude
3️⃣ Give it the full problem with context and let the analysis unfold before you act on it.

🔧 Cursor
A code editor built on VS Code with deep AI integration. Its strength is fast multifile editing and applying a clear plan across a large surface area without losing track of the structure.
How to get started:
1️⃣ Download it at cursor.com
2️⃣ Open your project and activate Composer for multifile editing mode.
3️⃣ Paste the plan from Claude and let Cursor execute it across the relevant files.

🔧 GitHub Copilot
The inline autocomplete assistant that lives inside your editor. It covers the continuous flow of daily coding, suggesting completions in context as you type. Best used as persistent background support, not as a reasoning tool.
How to get started:
1️⃣ Install it from the VS Code or JetBrains marketplace.
2️⃣ Sign in with your GitHub account and activate a subscription.
3️⃣ Start typing and observe how it picks up the local context.

🔧 Gemini CLI
Google's terminal native tool for working directly in the command line without a graphical interface. Fits developers who work in server environments, automation pipelines, or prefer workflows built entirely around text.
How to get started:
1️⃣ Install it: npm install -g @google/gemini-cli
2️⃣ Authenticate: gemini auth login
3️⃣ Run it from any project folder: gemini "describe your problem here"

Section 5 — 💡 Try it yourself: step by step

Scenario: there is a strange bug in your application. It appears intermittently. You have no clear idea where it originates.

1️⃣ Open Claude Code in your project folder and write: "I have an intermittent bug in this section of the code. Here is the expected behavior and here is what actually happens. Help me understand the most likely causes." Paste the relevant code and any logs you have. Do not summarize. Give the full picture.

2️⃣ Claude will return a structured analysis: ranked possible causes, the most likely source, and a concrete fix plan with reasoning behind each step. Read it fully before you move.

3️⃣ Open Cursor, activate Composer, and paste the fix plan as your instruction. Cursor will apply the changes across the affected files in clear steps you can review before they land.

4️⃣ Run your tests. If a new error surfaces or the behavior shifts unexpectedly, bring that new context back to Claude. Do not guess through it. The loop closes here and restarts informed.

What you get at the end: a fix you understand, applied cleanly across the codebase, with a documented reasoning trail you can share or revisit.

Section 6 — What to do next

✅ Look at one real problem you are working on right now and decide which part needs deep reasoning and which part needs fast execution.
✅ Run the bug scenario above on an actual issue this week, not a practice one.
✅ Stop evaluating tools in isolation. Evaluate the role you gave them.

The developers who stop arguing about tools are the ones who already understand how to use them together.
