Key terms

MCP

The Model Context Protocol. It lets Claude talk to external tools, understand the intent of a request and decide which tools to call and in what order.

MCP server

A small bridge that teaches Claude how to use one external service, such as a publishing platform, a billing system or a calendar. You register it once and every conversation can use it.

How it differs from Zapier or Make

Traditional automation wires two services with a fixed rule that never changes. With MCP, Claude reads the context every time, so you do not need twenty scenarios for twenty cases.

Application password

A separate password you create in the WordPress dashboard for an external app, so you never share your main login.

Environment variable

A value such as an API key stored in your terminal session. Commands reference it by name instead of you pasting it into a file or prompt.

   Install Claude Code and prep the stack folder

   Before any connector, you need Claude Code installed and signed in with your Claude subscription. Create a dedicated folder for the publishing stack so project settings stay separate from your other work: npm install -g @anthropic-ai/claude-code claude --version mkdir -p ~/creator-stack && cd ~/creator-stack claude

   On first run, follow the sign in steps with your account.
