جوالك مطفّي ولقيته على الخريطة؟ كيف تشغّل Find My صح قبل ما تحتاجهYour Phone Is Off and Still on the Map? Set Up Find My the Right Way Before You Need It
Understand how an iPhone shows up on the map even when it is off, turn on the three settings that make it findable, and know what to do, in order, if your phone goes missing.
Who this guide is for
Anyone with an iPhone who wants to be ready before it gets lost or stolen.
Key terms
- Find My network
- Apple devices near your lost phone pick up its signal and help get its location to you. Your phone does not need internet.
- Bluetooth
- The small radio that talks to your earbuds. It sends the short signal that makes your phone findable.
- Rotating key
- The code your phone sends changes about every 15 minutes, so nobody can use it to track you.
- Power Reserve
- When the battery runs out, the phone shuts down and keeps a little power for the signal so it stays findable for a few more hours.
The steps
Step 1
Turn on the three settings
Open Settings, tap your name, then Find My, then Find My iPhone.
Turn on all three: Find My iPhone, Find My network and Send Last Location.
The second one matters most. It is what makes your phone findable even with no internet.
Tip: With Find My network off, your phone will not show up when it is off or offline.
Step 2
Know what happens when the phone turns off
On a supported iPhone, Apple says you can locate it for up to 24 hours after it is turned off, and up to 5 hours in power reserve.
The screen goes dark, but the small radio keeps sending a short signal.
When you power off, look under the slider: if it says the iPhone stays findable after power off, the feature is on.
Tip: Those hours are a maximum, not a promise. With no Apple device nearby, nobody hears the signal.
Step 3
Understand why it is private
Your phone sends a code, and the code changes about every 15 minutes.
Any nearby iPhone, iPad or Mac hears it, adds its own location, locks it with that code and sends it to Apple.
Apple cannot read the location, and does not know who found the device or whose device was found. Only your devices can open it.

Step 4
If your phone is lost: see it on the map
Open the Find My app on another Apple device, or go to icloud.com/find.
Choose Devices, then pick your phone to see it on the map.
If you are close, tap More and choose Play Sound so it rings.

Turn on Lost Mode
In Find My, pick your phone, tap More, scroll to the Lost section and choose Lost Mode.
It locks the phone with its passcode, suspends Apple Pay cards, and lets you show a message with another number so the finder can reach you.
Tip: Turn it on as soon as you are sure it is lost, not a day later.
Step 6
Erase last, not first
If you are sure it was stolen and will not come back, you can erase it from Find My or icloud.com/find.
Apple says erasing cannot be undone. Try the steps before it first.
You need two factor authentication on your account to erase remotely.

Write me a short checklist to keep in my notes: what to do, in order, if my iPhone goes missing, from the first minute until I report it. Six points at most, in plain words.
The takeaway
Turn on Find My network today, because the day your phone goes missing is not the day to think about settings.
