Artifact

Anything Claude makes that you would put in front of someone: a small app, a map, a doc or a dashboard. It opens beside the chat and you can come back to it.

Artifacts tab

A place in the Claude sidebar with everything you have made, also at claude.ai/artifacts.

Create and edit files

The setting Claude needs to make artifacts. Find it in Settings, then Capabilities.

The steps

   Pick one question you care about

   Start with something you actually want to understand, not a work task. One clear question beats a big topic.

   Examples: where flamingos stop in winter, which date varieties ripen when, or how summer temperatures differ between two cities.

   Tip: If the answer needs real numbers, ask Claude to name the source of each one.

   Check the setting is on

   Open Settings, then Capabilities, and turn on Create and edit files. Older layouts call it Cloud code execution and file creation.

   On Team and Enterprise, an owner turns it on in Organization settings.

   Write your curiosity as a request

   Tell Claude what you want to understand, how you want to see it, and what you want to do with it. Those three things turn a plain answer into an app you can use.

   Edit it by talking

   The first version is rarely the last. Ask for one change per message: a colour, an order, a missing fact or another view.

   You can also ask it to explain any part you did not get, inside the app itself.

   Change the app: [the change you want]. Keep everything else the same and tell me exactly what changed.

   Find it again in the Artifacts tab

   Everything you make is saved in the Artifacts tab in the sidebar. Open it from any chat, or from claude.ai/artifacts.

   Share it with someone who cares

   Open the artifact and click Share. On Pro and Max you can share a link with anyone; on Team and Enterprise you can pick people or your organization.

   Note: people opening a current artifact need a Claude account.

   Tip: Before you share, make sure no personal information is inside the app.
