You will read the /usage screen in Claude Code, see where your plan limit goes, and apply the recommendations with one key or by hand.

Who this guide is for

Claude Code users on Pro, Max or Team plans who hit their usage limit faster than expected.

Key terms

Usage
How much of your plan limit you consume. Every message takes a share based on the size of the conversation sent with it.
Attribution
A list showing what share of your recent usage went to each skill, subagent, plugin and MCP server.
Recommendation
A row in /usage that suggests one change. The percentage at the start says how much of your recent usage the change applies to, not how much you will save.
Loop
A scheduled task inside your session that runs on an interval even while you are away. Each run sends your full conversation.
Effort
A setting for how much the model thinks before it answers. Higher effort uses more of your limit.

The steps

  1. Step 1

    Check your Claude Code version

The f shortcut that applies recommendations needs version 2.1.305 or later. Run the command and read the number. If it is older, update it the same way you installed it.
