Asking Claude for an animation and getting the same look every time? Learn to add one style line at the end of your request that sets the shape, light, colours and motion, plus seven ready lines to copy.

Who this guide is for

Creators, business owners and teams who make short explainer animations with Claude.

Key terms

Claude Motion
A template in Claude that turns your content into a short animation. Claude builds it as code that animates text, charts, shapes and images, so it makes no realistic footage or people. It is in beta on Team and Enterprise plans.
Style line
One sentence at the end of your request that sets the overall look: the drawing style, the light and texture, the colours and the motion. The topic stays the same; only the look changes.
Artifact
Anything Claude makes that opens beside the chat and that you can edit and share, like a page, a design or an animation.

The steps

  1. Step 1

    Write the topic first

Start with a clear request: what the animation explains, who it is for, where it will play and roughly how long it is.

If you have a report, numbers or images, attach them so the animation is built from your own content.

    PromptTopic request
Make a [20 second] animation that explains [my service or idea] to [audience]. It will play in [an Instagram reel or a team meeting].

Tip: Topic first, style line last. Don't blend them into one sentence.

  2. Step 2

Open Motion or ask for an animated page

On Team and Enterprise plans, select Output in the message box and choose Motion, or pick a Motion template in the Artifacts tab.

On other plans the Motion template isn't available yet. Send the same request and style line and ask for an animated HTML page as an artifact.

  3. Step 3

Build the style line from four parts

Shape: the drawing style, like clay 3D, pixel art or paper cutout.

Light and texture: soft studio light, grain, scanlines.

Colours: three or four only, by name or hex code.

Motion and rhythm: slow bouncy, hard cuts, 12 fps jitter. This last part is the one most people forget, and it gives the animation its personality.

    PromptStyle line template
Style: [shape style], [lighting and texture], [3 to 4 colours], [motion and rhythm].
  4. Step 4

Copy one of the seven styles

Each line below is ready. Add it to the end of your request as is, or swap the colours for your brand's.

3D clay for calm explainers, one line art for simple ideas, pixel art for playful content, paper cutout for warm stories, ASCII terminal for tech content, a Renaissance notebook for history and ideas, and kinetic type for promos.

    PromptSeven style lines
3D clay: chunky clay like shapes, soft studio lighting, big soft drop shadows, bold extruded type, cream background, orange and blue accents, slow bouncy easing.

One line art: a single unbroken blue line on graph paper, slight ink wobble, everything drawn in one continuous stroke.

Pixel art: Game Boy style, four shades of green, dithering, chunky low frame rate movement, 8 bit look.

Paper cutout: risograph stop motion, paper cutouts, pink and teal ink, grain, misregistered layers, handmade jitter at 12 fps.

ASCII terminal: green monospace characters on black, CRT scanlines, glitches, retro hacker feel.

Renaissance notebook: parchment, sepia ink line drawings, red chalk construction lines, cross hatching, sketched as if by hand.

Kinetic type: bold kinetic typography, squash and stretch, geometric transitions, hard cuts, red, cream, black and cobalt.
  5. Step 5

Lock one style for your brand

Pick one style and keep it for every video, so people recognise your content in the first second.

Save the style line in your notes, or in the project instructions if you use Projects, so you never retype it.

    PromptStanding project instruction
Every animation I ask for in this project uses this style unless I say otherwise: [style line]. Brand colours: [colours].
  6. Step 6

Change one detail at a time

The animation is built as code, so you can ask to change a word, a number, the timing or a colour and the rest stays as it was.

Ask for one or two changes per message. It works better than a long list.

    PromptEdit request
Slow down [scene two] and change [the orange] to [red]. Keep everything else as it is.
  7. Step 7

    Export and share

In Claude Motion, click Export and choose MP4 to download, or Share to send it. Animations start private to you until you share them.

Longer or more complex animations use more of your usage limit than a typical message, so start short.

Ready prompts to copy

PromptAsk Claude to suggest a style
I have a [20 second] animation about [topic] for [audience]. Suggest three different style lines in English, each with the shape, light, colours and motion, and tell me which one fits the topic best and why.

The takeaway

The topic says what you explain. The style line says how it looks. Lock one line and make your content recognisable in the first second.
