🔧 ChatGPT
1️⃣ روح على chat.openai.com
Google
🔧 Claude
1️⃣ روح على claude.ai

I dismissed AI for a full year
And the exact moment that broke my assumption is worth knowing about.
I tried ChatGPT when it launched. Asked it to write a poem. It did. Asked for a joke. It delivered. I closed the tab and wrote it off as something clever but not serious. A toy. And I basically ignored it for the next year, convinced the hype was bigger than the reality. What I can admit now is that I was testing it the completely wrong way.
What it actually is
The mistake I made was treating AI like a slightly smarter search engine. You ask, it answers, you judge. That is not the model. ChatGPT is not a database and it is not a knowledge archive. It is closer to a thinking partner — something that can sit inside a problem with you and help you work through it layer by layer. The difference between those two things is the difference between asking someone "where is the nearest coffee shop?" and asking them "help me figure out what I actually want to do this afternoon given that I'm tired, have 90 minutes, and need to make a real decision by tonight." The second question requires thinking with you, not just information at you.
How it works
The shift in my understanding came from a real situation, not a tutorial. I had a quarterly report due and I could not figure out how to start it. Not a writing problem. A thinking problem. I had the data, the observations, the complaints from clients — I just could not organize them into anything coherent. After 30 minutes staring at a blank page, I opened ChatGPT and typed: "I have a Q3 team performance report and I don't know where to start. I have sales numbers, personal observations, and some customer complaints. Help me think through this." I did not ask it to write the report. I asked it to help me think.
Three minutes later, I had a mental framework I had not considered. It gave me a structure and then asked me questions I hadn't asked myself:
🎯 What is the actual purpose of this report?
👥 Who reads it and what decision do they need to make after?
📌 What do you want them to walk away believing?
That moment clarified everything. I hadn't been using it. I had been testing it. And that gap is the whole story.
The difference between the two is simple once you see it:
🔬 Testing: give it a task and grade the output
🤝 Using: share a real problem and work through it together
⏱️ Actual use saves real time. Testing just proves it can write poems.
Where you see it in your life
AI is not limited to writing tasks. It already touches parts of a real workday in ways that are easy to miss:
📧 Email drafting: turn three scattered bullet points into a clear, professional message in under a minute
📊 Data interpretation: paste in numbers and ask it to read them — it surfaces patterns in plain language
🧠 Decision thinking: describe a choice you are stuck on and ask it to show you the angles you have not considered
✍️ Content review: not just grammar, but whether the logic of what you wrote actually holds together from start to finish
🛠️ Tools you actually use
🔧 ChatGPT
The original and still the most widely used. Runs directly in a browser with no setup required. The free version is enough to get started, and ChatGPT Plus unlocks access to more capable models when you need them.
1️⃣ Go to chat.openai.com
2️⃣ Create an account with your email or sign in with Google
3️⃣ Start a new conversation and bring a real problem with you, not a test prompt
🔧 Claude
Built by Anthropic and widely preferred for longer documents, deep analysis, and nuanced writing. It handles large amounts of text without losing context halfway through a session.
1️⃣ Go to claude.ai
2️⃣ Create a free account
3️⃣ Try it on something analytical — a report, a decision, or a piece of writing you want genuinely sharpened
💡 Try it yourself: step by step
This exercise is designed to give you the same kind of shift I had. Not a random test prompt — a real scenario pulled from your actual life.
1️⃣ Think of something that is genuinely on your mind right now. A project, a decision, something that hasn't clicked yet. Something real, not invented for the exercise.
2️⃣ Open ChatGPT or Claude and instead of asking it to "write" or "explain," say: "I'm trying to think through [topic] and I don't know where to start. Help me break the problem down."
3️⃣ Read the response, then reply with a question or a clarification. Don't take the first output and close the tab. The conversation is the tool, not the first reply.
4️⃣ After five minutes, notice whether something became clearer that wasn't before. Whether you have an angle you didn't have when you opened the tab. That clarity is what the tool actually produces.
What to do next
✅ Take one real task from your day today and work through it with ChatGPT or Claude as a thinking partner, not just as something to ask a question at
✅ Look up the concept of prompt engineering and understand how the way you frame a question changes the quality of the answer entirely
✅ Ask yourself honestly which parts of your week take time that these tools could compress
The people who get real value from these tools are not the ones who opened them — they are the ones who learned how to bring real problems to them.
