🔧 Claude Projects (على claude.ai)
🔧 Cursor
System Prompt

**Stop Using Claude Like a Tool**
The people who get the most from Claude don't ask questions. They delegate.
Most people open a conversation, type a question, get an answer, and close the tab. That approach gives you maybe 20% of the value Claude can actually deliver. The difference between someone who uses Claude for ten minutes and walks away with mediocre output, and someone who uses it for the same time and walks away with real finished work, isn't the questions they ask. It's how they've structured the relationship before the first message.
**What it actually is**
There's a real difference between asking Claude a question and delegating a task to it. When you ask, you get a response to a narrow prompt. When you delegate, you give Claude a role, a set of standing rules, and enough context to act — and then you step back.
Think of it like the difference between texting a friend "what do you think of this sentence?" versus sitting down and telling them: "You're my editor. My style is direct and tight. My audience isn't technical. Here's the full piece. Tell me what's weak and why."
The second approach produces far better output. Not because Claude got smarter. Because you gave it what it needed to actually do the job instead of just answering a question.
**How it works**
This comes down to three things working together:
1️⃣ The role: Give Claude an explicit identity within your workflow. "You are my creative director." "You are my financial analyst." "You are my code reviewer." That single sentence shifts the tone, depth, and framing of everything Claude produces from that point forward.
2️⃣ Standing rules: Write your preferences once. "Always be concise." "Never use filler phrases." "If you're not sure, say so directly rather than hedging." These rules become the permanent background for every interaction, so you're not repeating yourself every session.
3️⃣ Full context: Before any request, give Claude the whole picture. Not just what you're asking for — the project, the constraints, the goal, and the audience. Claude doesn't know your life. You have to brief it the same way you'd brief a new teammate walking into a project midway through.
When all three are in place, you can hand off an entire task, walk away, and come back to finished work.
**Where you see it**
✍️ Content: Instead of "write me a tweet," you say "you're my content manager, here's our voice, here's the audience, here's the topic — give me three options."
💼 Work: Instead of asking question by question, you drop an entire document and say "analyze this, summarize it, and tell me the core problem."
🔁 Recurring tasks: Any repetitive task in your workflow can become a standing protocol you hand to Claude once and reuse every time without re-explaining anything.
🧑💻 Code: Instead of pasting a snippet and asking what's wrong, you give Claude the full project context and ask it to review everything and flag potential issues before they become actual problems.
**🛠️ Tools you actually use**
🔧 Claude Projects (claude.ai)
Projects let you store a permanent set of instructions that Claude loads automatically every time you open that project. You define the role and the rules once. Claude carries them into every conversation without being reminded.
How to get started:
1️⃣ Go to claude.ai and sign in to your account
2️⃣ From the sidebar, select "Projects" then "New Project"
3️⃣ In the "Project Instructions" field, write Claude's role, your standing rules, and any context that should persist across every conversation in that project
🔧 Cursor
Cursor is a code editor that embeds Claude directly inside it. You create a file called .cursorrules in your project root and write your permanent instructions there. Claude inside Cursor reads that file automatically at the start of every coding session, no setup required each time.
How to get started:
1️⃣ Download Cursor from cursor.com
2️⃣ Open your project and create a file named .cursorrules in the root directory
3️⃣ Write your instructions in plain English: preferred language, code style, what to always flag, and what Claude should never assume without asking
🔧 Claude API with System Prompt
If you're building something custom or want maximum control over the behavior, the system prompt in the Claude API is the most powerful option available. You write Claude's role once at the start of every session, and every message that follows operates entirely within that frame.
How to get started:
1️⃣ Sign up at console.anthropic.com and generate an API key
2️⃣ In every API request, add a "system" field before the user messages
3️⃣ Write Claude's full role, standing rules, and expected response style in that system field — be specific, because this is the foundation everything else builds on
**💡 Try it yourself: step by step**
Scenario: Set up Claude as your personal content editor.
1️⃣ Go to claude.ai and create a new Project called "My Content"
2️⃣ In the instructions field, write: "You are my personal editor. My style is direct and concise. I don't use unnecessarily complex language. My audience is curious but not technical. When you find weak sentences, rewrite them and explain why."
3️⃣ Open a new conversation inside that project and paste any piece of writing you've worked on recently
4️⃣ Write: "Review this and give me an improved version with your notes on what changed and why."
What you'll see: Claude won't ask you what your style is. It already knows. It will go straight into the work within the frame you defined, and every new conversation in that project starts from the same shared understanding without you having to rebuild it.
**What to do next**
✅ Identify one recurring task in your workflow and write a standing protocol for it that you can hand to Claude every time
✅ Create one Project on claude.ai today and write your first set of instructions in it before you do anything else with it
✅ Ask yourself: what context does Claude not have about me or my work? Start giving it that context systematically
The right question isn't what to ask Claude. It's what to delegate to it.
