وجّه المهام الكثيرة إلى Claude Haiku 5.5 ووفّر التكلفةRoute High Volume Work to Claude Haiku 5.5 and Cut Costs
Split your work between Claude Haiku 5.5, Sonnet 5.5 and Opus 5.5, and move repetitive tasks to the cheaper, faster model without losing quality.
Who this guide is for
Founders, teams and creators who run Claude on many tasks and want lower costs.
Key terms
- Haiku 5.5
- The smallest, cheapest and fastest model in the Claude family. Its API ID is claude-haiku-5-5. It is built for high volume tasks where cost and speed matter.
- Effort
- A setting that controls how much the model thinks before it answers. The levels are Low, Med, High, Xhigh and Max. Higher is more accurate, slower and more expensive.
- Subagent
- A small agent that takes one piece of a bigger job, does it, and hands the result back to the main agent.
- Prompt caching
- The model remembers the fixed part of your prompt so you do not pay full price for it on every request. Cache reads on Haiku 5.5 cost $0.01 per million tokens up to 100k tokens.
The steps
Step 1
Know where Haiku 5.5 saves you money
Anthropic released Haiku 5.5 on October 7, 2026. Pricing starts at $0.10 per million input tokens and $0.50 per million output tokens. On average that is around 75% less than Haiku 4.5.
For comparison, Sonnet 5.5 is $2 input and $10 output. Opus 5.5 is $4 input and $20 output.
The idea is simple. Do not pay big model prices for a job that does not need a big model.
Tip: The $0.10 and $0.50 rates apply up to 100k tokens per request. Above that the price goes up, so check the official pricing page.
Step 2
List your repetitive tasks
Open Claude and ask it to review your weekly work. Look for tasks that are frequent, similar and have a clear right answer: sorting messages, pulling fields out of text, summaries, routing requests, database queries.
These are the tasks Anthropic points to for Haiku 5.5. Hard jobs like building a whole feature stay with Opus or Sonnet.
PromptSort tasks by modelI work in [my field]. These are my repeating tasks this week: [one task per line] For each task, tell me whether it fits Haiku 5.5, Sonnet 5.5 or Opus 5.5. Give the reason in one sentence. Then rank the tasks from most frequent to least frequent.
Step 3
Test one task on Haiku 5.5
Pick one task from the list, such as sorting customer messages. In the Claude app, choose Haiku 5.5 from the model menu if it shows up for you. If you use the API, use the ID claude-haiku-5-5.
Give it 10 real examples and compare its output with the bigger model. A fifteen minute test saves weeks of guessing.
PromptSort messages in a fixed formatSort each message below into one category: [Category 1], [Category 2], [Category 3], [Other]. Return a table with two columns: message number and category. Add no explanation. Messages: [paste the numbered messages here]
Step 4
Set the effort level
Haiku 5.5 is the first Haiku model with an effort setting. The API default is medium.
Start at Low or Med for easy tasks. If it misses on your ten examples, go up one level and test again. Do not jump to Max at the start. You will pay more for nothing.
Tip: Change one thing per test, either the model or the effort level, so you know which one made the difference.
Step 5
Use it as a subagent in code work
Anthropic says Haiku 5.5 pairs well with Opus 5.5 and Sonnet 5.5 as a subagent on coding work. The big model plans and decides. The small one runs the small jobs: searching files, summarizing results, running checks.
In Claude Code you can ask for this split directly. Keep in mind that the larger models stay better at complex coding.
PromptSplit work between modelsI want to do [task] in this project. Split the work: you plan the steps, then hand the small repeated jobs, such as [searching files and summarizing results], to a subagent running on Haiku 5.5. Review every result before you accept it.
Step 6
Cut cost further with caching and batches
If your prompt always starts with the same long instructions, turn on prompt caching. Cache reads on Haiku 5.5 cost 10% of the input price.
If you do not need the result right away, use the Batch API. It takes 50% off requests.
With Haiku 5.5 and these two options, large jobs get cheap enough to run every day.
Step 7
Set a standing rule for your team
Write one clear rule so everyone knows which model to use and when. Put it in the project instructions or in a CLAUDE.md file.
Review it after a month. If Haiku keeps missing on a task, move that task to the bigger model. If it nails a task every time, lower the effort level.
PromptModel choice ruleWrite me a model choice rule for my team in five lines or fewer: Haiku 5.5 for sorting, extraction, summaries and routing, Sonnet 5.5 for everyday writing and analysis, Opus 5.5 for long, complex work. Add one line on when we raise the effort level. Team: [describe the team].
Ready prompts to copy
Here are two outputs for the same task: the first from Haiku 5.5 and the second from [the bigger model]. Task: [describe the task] Output one: [paste] Output two: [paste] Compare them on accuracy, completeness and format. Is the difference worth the price gap? Answer yes or no, then explain in three lines.
The takeaway
Use the bigger model for hard decisions and Haiku 5.5 for every task that repeats hundreds of times.
